Guitar Maker

back string.jpeg

The inspiration behind my guitar making is as old if not older than guitar making itself. I have always had a love for the instrument and in particular the nylon string with its softer more complex and alluring tone. As a guitar maker I am drawn to the origins of this instrument and the methods of construction employed within its tradition.

I spent a year and a half studying these methods in the small artisan workshops of Granada in Southern Spain. The guitar workshops oftentimes less than obvious, hidden among the maze of streets and lanes gave their location away by the scent of cedrela odorata mixing with the heat and the fervour that is a city like Granada.

Resourceful, sometimes genius in their invention the poetic style of guitar making I witnessed was to shape the way I would approach guitar making from then on.
